Rice Cooker Braised Pork Belly



[Ingredients]

  • 600g pork belly - cut into small pieces

  • 1tbsp oil

  • 10 cloves of garlic - smashed (skin on)

  • 5 slices of ginger - peeled

  • 5g cinnamon stick

  • 2 star anise

  • 1 clove

  • 10pcs rock sugar

  • 5 stalks scallion - cut into lengths, separate stalk and green parts

  • 4tbsp dark soy sauce

  • 3tbsp light soy sauce

  • 3tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1L water

  • 6 hardboiled eggs - peeled


[Steps]

  1. In the pot of the rice cooker, add in oil, garlic and ginger, mix well.

  2. Start rice cooker (rice mode). Allow to cook for 5mins and check if garlic and ginger are cooking, if not, add another 3mins.

  3. Once garlic and ginger have start to sizzle, add in scallion stalk parts, followed by pork, sugar and spices. Mix well.

  4. Add in the 3 sauces and mix well. Close the cooker and let cook for 10mins.

  5. Add in water, mix well, followed by eggs. Reset the cooker to 1hr and start cooking.
