Steamed Japanese Rice


[Ingredients]

  • 1/2 cups uncooked Japanese rice grains

  • 1 1/2 cup water

[Steps]

  1. Using your hands, stir and rinse the rice in a large pot until the water turns milky white.

  2. Pour out the water and rinse again. Repeat this step three or four times until the water no longer turn white.

  3. Drain the rice and pour it into a clean pot with water.

  4. Place a lid on the pot and let it sit at medium heat until the water begins to boil. Switch to low heat and cook for 15mins.

  5. After cooking, turn the pot upside down to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom.

  6. About 5mins later, turn the pot back and stir the rice. Use a wet spoon or rice paddle to scoop and serve.
