Chicken Yakitori


[Ingredients]

  • 70g store-bought pickled ginger + 2tbsp pickling liquid

  • 2tbsp honey

  • 60ml soy sauce

  • 600g chicken thigh - trimmed and cut into 1inch cubes

  • 1tbsp vegetable oil

  • Toasted sesame seeds

  • Cracked black pepper

[Steps]

  1. Place ginger, pickling liquid, honey and soy sauce in a large mixing bowl. Mix well and add in chicken. Toss to coat, let marinade for 10mins.

  2. Thread chicken and ginger into 12 skewers.

  3. Preheat a char-grill pan over medium heat.

  4. Brush skewers with oil and cook, turning, for 6-8mins or until goldeb and cooked thru.

  5. While the chicken is cooking, place remaining marinade in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook for 3-4mins or until reduced and of a syrup consistency.

  6. Brush skewers with reduced marinade and serve sprinkled with sesame seeds and black pepper.
