Spicy Wonton



Serving: 3-4pax


[Ingredients]

  • 300g minced meat

  • 100g fish paste

  • 350g prawns - peeled, deveined and halved

  • 20g dried shrimp - soaked till soft, toasted and chopped

  • 5pcs water chestnut - peeled and chopped

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 tbsp fish sauce

  • 0.5 tsp salt

  • 0.5 tsp pepper

  • 16pc white round dumpling wrapper

  • Chopped scallions - garnish

  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds - garnish


[Sauce]

  • 1btl Knife-brand spicy sesame oil (49ml)

  • 1 tsp minced garlic

  • 1 tsp minced ginger

  • 1 tsp sesame seeds

  • 2 tsp sugar

  • 0.5 tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp red vinegar

  • 1 tbsp fish sauce


[Steps]

  1. In a heatproof bowl, add in garlic, ginger, sesame seeds, sugar and salt. Set aside.

  2. In a small pot, heat up spicy sesame oil. When oil starts to smoke a little, pour oil into bowl, mix well.

  3. Add in red vinegar and fish sauce, mix well.

  4. In a large mixing bowl, add in meat, fish paste, dried shrimp and water chestnut. Mix well, then add in sesame oil, fish sauce, salt and pepper. Mix well and set aside.

  5. For each wrapper, scoop 1-2tsp of meat mixture on it with half a prawn, and wrap it up, using water as adhesive.

  6. Bring a pot of water to boil and blanch wontons till cooked. Drain and add into a serving bowl.

  7. Drizzle spicy oil over wontons and garnish with scallion and sesame seeds.
