[Ingredients]
- 150g plain flour
- 1tsp baking powder
- 2tsp caster sugar
- 4g salt
- 90-95ml water
- 1tsp shallot oil
[Steps]
1. In a mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients together and knead into a soft pliable dough.
2. Knead for about 6-8mins and let rest on a greased bowl for 30-45mins, covered with a damp tea towel.
3. Roll dough out into a rectangle, about 30 x 60cm. Cut into 16 rectangles, then stack 2pcs together.
4. Use a satay stick to press in the middle, squishing the dough together. Cover and let rest for another 10mins.
5. Preheat some cooking oil over medium heat. Take a piece of dough, give a gentle stretch to make it slightly longer, then carefully lower it into the frying oil. Deep-fry till golden brown. Repeat for the rest of the dough - don't crowd the frying pot as they might stick.
6. When cooked, drain on paper towels.
