First up, On Lok Yun, a popular place that sells Thai-style American breakfast. Menu choice is limited but the kaya is the anchor that brings in so much customers! Trust me, it is not like any other kaya, it makes it all worth it queueing up for. I got the popular Egg Custard Bread, which is the white bread with a side of kaya mixed with coconut milk. As well as a small portion of French toast (also recommended), some soft-boiled eggs and an Iced Thai Milk Tea.

Next was to The Grand Palace. The palace was the official residence of the Kings of Thailand from 1782 to 1925. The King, his court and the royal government were all based on the grounds of the palace. Now that the place is served as a tourist attraction, it is still used for official events like royal ceremonies and state functions. As I mentioned in my introduction post, some places in Bangkok will require a dress code. Before you even enter the palace, everybody is screened and whoever that does not meat the criteria, can purchase long pants, skirts, shirts, and so on and the entrance. This includes no see-through/thin material clothing, no shorts, skirts to be at least knee-length, no open toe shoes, no slippers/sandals, no wide neck tops, no sleeveless tops and no cropped tops. To be safe, just wear a simple t-shirt and 3/4 or long pants, with shoes. Visible tattoos are not allowed as well.

The only thing that I remembered going to the palace probably is just warm and crowded, and then getting partially drenched as it started raining shortly after. Around this area was Blue Whale Cafe, which they are popular for their butterfly pea drinks. I had the Iced Butterfly Pea Latte, which consists of milk, butterfly pea tea, vanilla syrup, and topped with fresh butterfly pea flowers and a cinnamon stick. The drink sure is pretty to look at and to take photos with, but wasn’t too game to the taste of the drink. It has this weird flower taste. Had pad thai at a local restaurant before I make my way to the next destination.

Next I took a boat ride to Sathorn Pier where it is connected to BTS. I am pretty much done with today’s itinerary, just left with three more cafes to go, and I set that aside for tomorrow as my flight back is at 8pm. But since I am done early today, thought I will go one of the three cafes first. From here I went to Siam first, as I saw them selling those Thai pancakes the other day, but there isn’t any today. Because of the heavy rain, it makes travelling around less convenient and a lot of the street stalls are close. Couldn’t do much here as well. Tried the Say Cheez toast in purple sweet potato flavour. Got some Thai Milk Tea and McDonalds before I head back to the hotel. Gonna freshen up, grab my laptop, and head down to Roast at The Commons to chill for the night. Had some Truffle Alfredo and coffee, and it was amazing! Now I understand why people choose to dine here over Thai food.
