[Virtual Travel] Tokyo Day 7

Tokyo Disneyland was the first park built outside of USA, opened in 1983, designed the same style as the parks in Florida (Magic Kingdom) and California (Disneyland) with Cinderella’s castle as the main feature. It also feature similar attractions found in Magic Kingdom and Disneyland. Tokyo DisneySea opened in 2001 and is nautical themed which sets it apart from the usual Disney themed parks. Both parks are the only ones not owned by Walt Disney.

Tokyo Disneyland features seven zones - World Bazaar, Adventureland, Westernland, Critter Country, Fantasyland, Toontown and Tomorrowland.

World Bazaar is early 20th century America themed with Victorian-style streets. It is the main street and leads to the castle, and where the shops are.

Adventureland is jungle themed and consists of two zones, the jungle themed itself and a New Orleans themed. It features a real steam engine, jungle-themed attractions and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Westernland is old-American (the old west) themed. It features two boat rides, a roller coaster, the country bear theatre and the shooting gallery.

Critter Country is South American themed with the Splash Mountain as the key attraction and features a splashing high-speed boat ride, as well as a canoeing ride.

Fantasyland is the world of fairy tales and where Cinderella’s castle is. A new Beauty and the Beast sub-zone was added in 2020 and features a new castle. Other characters featured in this zone includes Alice (in Wonderland), Snow White, Dumbo, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Pooh and Mickey. There’s also an eerie Gothic mansion with 999 ghostly inhabitants.

Toontown is the kids zone with colourful and small rides for the little ones!

Tomorrowland is science-fiction futuristic themed. “The Happy Ride with Baymax”, a rotating car ride, was added in 2020 and is the first Disney attraction to be themed based on the movie, Big Hero 6.
