9am: Breakfast at The Grounds of Alexandria
The Grounds of Alexandria is a huge, beautiful garden turned from a former pie factory which includes the cafe, coffee roastery, bakery, florist, farm and market. It is a popular wedding venue for a garden-themed affair. There’s also botanical themed workshops that you can sign up for like flower crown or terrarium making.
11am: University of Sydney, Chau Chak Wing Museum
The University of Sydney was founded in 1850, Australia’s first university and is regarded as one of the world's leading universities. It is one of Australia’s six sandstone universities and comprises of eight academic faculties.
Located within the university is the Chau Chak Wing Museum that showcases a combined collection of art, science, history and ancient cultures, housing some of Australia’s oldest natural history specimens.
2pm: Lunch at Brewtown Newtown
Brewtown Newtown, the cafe, is now referred as Brewtown Sydney as a whole after a bakery was set up last year on the second floor, housed in a rustic century-old brick building. It is owner Pete Raad’s three-phase project with the last phase being a licensed bar.
3:30pm: White Rabbit Gallery
Opened in 2009, it showcases one of the world’s most significant collections of Chinese contemporary art, focusing on works produced after 2000. Housed in a former Rolls Royce showroom, it has 4 floors of exhibition space as well as a theatrette and a teahouse.
5pm: Broadway Shopping Centre, Kmart, dinner
Kmart is my go to spot in Australia! They have so many items and at such affordable prices! The nearest store to the hotel is at Broadway Shopping Centre. The mall is located in one of the two former Grace Bros Broadway buildings that opened in 1923, the other building now used as an university student accommodation. It houses a 12-screen cinema complex, 500-seat food court and other major retailers like Coles, Target and Harvey Norman.
