7am: to Disney Resort by taxi, Toy Story Hotel 玩具总动员酒店 (45mins)
Are you a theme park person? Theme parks are definitely a must go for me if it is not too out of the way. Being a preferred solo traveller myself, I definitely had been to theme parks on my own, and to be honest, queuing time can be largely reduced when you are on your own versus with friends or family. Shanghai has Disneyland, about an hour drive from the city. Best of all, they have a toy story themed hotel, how can I miss this? It is making me go crazy! However, the price per night is x3 the price of our airbnb, so we are just gonna stay here for a night.
8:30am: to Shanghai Disneyland 上海迪士尼乐园
Disney hotels’ guests are allowed 30mins early entry. The Shanghai Disneyland opened in 2016 and consists of 7 zones - Mickey Avenue, Gardens of Imagination, Tomorrowland, Toy Story Land, Fantasyland, Treasure Cove and Adventure Isle. An additional zone called “City of Zootopia” based on the animated film, Zootopia, will be opening soon. For this park, many usual Disney park features will be redesigned or replaced with Chinese cultural elements to cater for Chinese visitors' preferences. Such as the usual steam train being replaced by a Chinese zodiac garden called the Gardens of Imagination. Don’t miss out the parade and the daily fireworks at 8:30pm!
Disneytown 迪士尼小镇, try Dahuchun 大壶春
If you are hungry and don’t want to dine at the hotels or in the theme park, there is Disneytown.
Dahuchun is another recommended pan-fried dumplings store besides Yang's Dumpling. The difference in both is the wrapper. Yang's uses non-fermented dough, which is like regular dumpling wrapper. Dahuchun uses fermented dough, which is like steamed buns (aka pau).
