[Virtual Travel] Perth Road Trip Day 5

8am: To Lake Thetis (4.5hrs), stopover break

After breakfast (self-prep) and check-out, we headed to Lake Thetis with a stopover break in between. Lake Thetis is a saline coastal lake. It is one of the only few places in the world with living marine stromatolites and thrombolites. These rock-like structures are built by micro-organisms too small for the human eye to see, and they resemble the earliest forms of life on Earth.

1pm: To Hangover Bay (15mins)

We stopover at Hangover Bay before continuing south to Nambung. You can occasionally catch bottlenose dolphins and sea lions here.

1:45pm: To Nambung (10mins), Pinnacles Discovery Centre, Pinnacles Desert, Nambung National Park (2hrs)

Nambung National Park has an area filled with thousands of limestone formations called the Pinnacles Desert. The word “Nambung” was first used in 1938, which possibly meant crooked or winding. The national park was named “Nambung”, after Nambung River as the river flows into the park and disappears into a cave system within the limestone. The park was created in 1994 by combining three separate reserve areas gazetted in 1956, 1967 and 1968. Learn more about the pinnacles and the park at the discovery centre.

4pm: To Perth City (2.5hrs), Check-in to airbnb + dinner

We continue to head south to Perth and to our airbnb located at East Victoria Park. After settling in, we have dinner nearby.
