[Virtual Travel] Cambodia + Vietnam Day 5: Ho Chi Minh



8am: to Airport, depart to Ho Chi Minh

That wraps up Siem Reap. Head to the airport and depart for Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City.


11:30am: Arrive at Tan Son Nhat Airport, Check-in to Chill Suites Saigon Hotel (The Chill Suites - City Center)

Upon arriving at the airport, head to the hotel to check-in, a 20mins drive away.



1:30pm: Lunch at Hủ Tiếu Nam Vang Nhân Quán

Then head to Hủ Tiếu Nam Vang Nhân Quán for lunch, a 10mins drive away. It serves Vietnamese-style noodles called Hu Tieu, and it looks kind of similar to Bak Chor Mee.



2:30pm: Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon

After which, a 5mins drive to Notre Dame Cathedral, a cathedral established by the French colonists, constructed between 1863 and 1880.



3:30pm: Saigon Central Post Office

Then, to the Saigon Central Post Office that is nearby. It is constructed in the late 19th century when Vietnam was part of French Indochina. Two painted maps that were created just after the post office was built, can be found inside the post office’s special note. At the far end of the building is the photo of Mr Duong Van Ngo, who works for the post office since he was 17. He has been a writer and translator for 4 languages for over 25 years, and is the last official letter writer of Ho Chi Minh.



4:30pm: Chill at L’amant Cafe

Next, take a break at L’amant Cafe, a 10mins walk away.



5:30pm: Saigon Skydeck + sunset

After which, head to Saigon Skydeck for the sunset, a 10mins drive away. The Saigon Skydeck is an observation deck on the 49th floor of the Bitexco Financial Tower. It is the tallest building in Ho Chi Minh at the height of 262m. The design concept takes after the shape of Vietnam’s national flower, a lotus bud. The Bitexco Financial Tower is a symbol of beauty and the rapid development of Ho Chi Minh’s economy.



6:30pm: Dinner at The Workshop Coffee

Lastly, walk over to The Workshop Coffee for dinner, a lovely glasshouse-shaped cafe with high ceilings.
