Day 4: Arriving at KL

After check-out from my hotel, took a grab to Melaka Sentral, where I will be heading off to Kuala Lumpur (KL)! It was pouring this morning, and am so glad that it did only when I’m leaving Malacca! There are lots of eateries at the bus terminal, so you don’t have to worry. Got some McDonalds to have it on the bus, it’s going to be a 2.5hrs bus ride. There are a few arriving points to choose from if I am not wrong, and I chose to arrive at TBS. I took the 10:15am bus from Malacca, then a Grab to my hotel located along Bukit Bintang, arriving at about 1pm. Similarly, you can book the bus at www.easybook.com, and a ride from Malacca to KL costs you S$5.35/pax, operator is City Express.

#1: Bus ticket to KL.

For my accommodation, I initially booked Gold3 Boutique Hotel, conveniently located at Fahrenheit88 along the main road; but switch to Le Apple Boutique Hotel as their rooms were bigger, yet cheaper, and away from the busy streets. It is located just a little away from Fahrenheit 88, and I saved a total of about S$50. For Le Apple, it was about $35/night for a Queen room. Similarly, breakfast is not included.

Upon check-in, similarly, I was told to pay a tourism fee, and this time it cost RM40. The room comes equipped with TV, kettle, hair dryer, bottled water, hand soap and bath towels. After settling down, took a Grab to my first cafe, Jao Tim. Upon arriving, look for a large golden door that leads you to the 2nd floor. This cafe has a grand hotel concept, I almost thought I was at the wrong place! The interior of the cafe reminds me of Higher Ground (cafe) at Melbourne. Diagonally across Jao Tim is another cafe located within a hotel, called Lim Kee Cafe. What I like about this cafe is the cross-over of western espresso-based coffee with the Asian-style breakfast of kaya butter toast and soft-boiled eggs.

After which, took a Grab down to SS15, where it became a boba tea lane recently, with various brands opening up one after another, with Brown Sugar Boba Milk as their signature drink. The brand that I love the most for this popular drink is Xing Fu Tang, and I am so glad that they open up a store in KL! How good is Xing Fu Tang? This was the only brand that was having constant long queues and almost everyone ordered their Brown Sugar Boba Milk! The remaining 4-5 brands around were completely empty, and this includes popular brands like The Alley!

After which, took a Grab to Central Market, this is a good place to get Malaysian craftwork and souvenirs, engraved souvenirs, local produce, and so on. Didn’t know what to get yet, so I thought I will return again if I could not get any good souvenirs elsewhere. Proceeded to Pavilion next to catch Avengers End Game! This mall is huge and grand! It’s like ION Orchard, with tons of luxury brands, good food, and many more!

After a long 3hrs movie, got some amazing takoyakis from Gindaco, and Oden from Family Mart. The takoyakis were crispy on the outside, and so soft on the inside, with large pieces of octopus leg, some chopped scallions and pickled ginger. I got the original version, which is topped with bonito flakes, and the Teritama, which is topped with egg mayo.
