As they announced for us to board the plane, I quickly pick up my bags and went forward. Then, they stopped us and instructed us to return to the holding room. The nightmare that every passenger is afraid of – delayed flight! My flight was delayed till 0515hrs which was initially scheduled to depart at 0040hrs, due to a technical fault that was unable to be resolved on the spot. A new aircraft is being sent in. Everyone was upset.
I went from terminal 2 to terminal 3, terminal 3 to terminal 1, and back to terminal 2. I grabbed a subway sandwich and sat down for some movie time. At approximately 0315hrs, the takeoff time was changed to 0430hrs and we were told to start scanning our bags. However, just when the scanning was about to start, they stopped us AGAIN. What is going on?? Finally, after a long wait, everyone settled down and the plane finally takeoff at 0530hrs.
I was so exhausted, I slept and slept and slept. We reached Melbourne Airport at about 1510hrs, which initially was supposed to be at 1100hrs. I was a little bit dishearten as my plans for day 1 were all gone, having to arrive this late. I got my SkyBus ticket (AU$18) and went on board at the SkyBus Terminal. The driver was really nice and helped all of us to carry and load our baggage. The bus brought us to Southern Cross Station and from there I took a tram down to my Airbnb accommodation in St Kilda. You can read more about it here.

It was already about 1900hrs when I get settled down. The only thing left that I could do was grocery shopping. I head over to Woolworths, which was a street across. If you are still not aware, I was planning to prepare my meals as much as I could as meals are really huge and expensive here in Australia. I would put all the recipes that I prepared during this trip in a separate post. Alright, that’s about it for day 1!
